Open Enrollment

The Geminus Head Start program is excited to announce that applications for the 2026-2027 school year open on March 1. The Head Start program allows families gain access to comprehensive services including education, health, nutrition, and family support. We will have open enrollment events in your community where families can apply for the program, and receive important health services like vaccines, physicals, dental screenings, and lead testing.

Who is Eligible?

Head Start and Early Head Start programs are open to children from birth to age five, including prenatal moms. While all families can be enrolled in our program, income-eligible families are encouraged to apply and priority enrollment is given to children experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, children with disabilities, and families receiving public assistance like SNAP, TANF, or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

We also offer comprehensive services for children with disabilities, supporting individualized education plans, therapeutic plans, and inclusive classroom environments. By partnering with providers like First Steps and local developmental preschools, we coordinate referrals and care, ensuring children and families receive the support they need to succeed.

Families who may be over the income guidelines could still qualify for Head Start if they face excessive housing costs. When determining eligibility, bills such as rent or mortgage, utilities, property taxes, and homeowner’s insurance are considered as part of the excessive housing costs calculation. If these expenses take up a significant portion of your family’s income, you may still be eligible for the program.

What Should You Bring?

To complete your application, please bring the following items:

  • Guardianship/Foster Care documents (if this applies to you)
